A remarkable performance from Popov, the 304th ranked player in the world at the time, saw the German conquer the elements and some dastardly conditions over four days in South Ayrshire.

After battling Lyme Disease and a loss of form, Popov came very close to quitting the game the year prior. Yet in August 2020, the 27-year-old earned an emotional victory, completing one of the most remarkable golfing successes in recent memory.
