Jiyai Shin

Jiyai Shin

One of only five players to have won the AIG Women's Open more than once, Shin triumphed by an incredible nine shots at Royal Liverpool in 2012 - the largest margin of victory since the Championship became a major.

Shin's success at Hoylake owed much to a stunning second-round 64, which gave the Korean a healthy lead she did not relinquish as she finished with a nine-under total.

Four years earlier at Sunningdale, Shin started and finished with scores of 66 to claim her first major title, by three shots from Yani Tseng. She was only 20 years and 97 days old at the time and remains the youngest winner of the AIG Women's Open.

Shin reminded everyone of her pedigree when she rose to the top of the leaderboard after the third round of the 2024 AIG Women's Open after putting on an exhibition of shot-making.

Then 36, Shin finished the day one shot clear of defending Champion Lilia Vu and was in contention for the whole of the final round, being in a four-way tie for the lead with just four to play, and eventually finished in a tie for second place.

Other highlights in Shin's career include 25 weeks as the world number one in 2010 and an astonishing season on the KLPGA Tour in 2007, which featured 10 wins in just 19 starts.
