Melanie Green

Melanie Green

Green enjoyed a wonderful week at Portmarnock in June as she became the first American winner of the Women’s Amateur Championship since 1996.

The 22-year-old was four down after eight holes against Scotland’s Lorna McClymont and also found herself one down with three to play in a hugely dramatic final.

Green then found crucial birdies at the 34th and 35th holes to secure the title in style.

“There is so much history to this Championship and it’s amazing to win it,” said Green, who had previously been named the AAC Women’s Golf Player of the Year for 2024 following a superb season at the University of South Florida.
