Yuka Saso rallied from three shots back to become, at 22, the youngest player to win two US Women's Open titles when she triumphed at Lancaster Country Club in June 2024.
A run of four birdies in five holes on the final-round back nine allowed the Japanese to overhaul 54-hole joint-leaders
Minjee Lee,
Andrea Lee and
Wichanee Meechai.
Saso won her first US Women’s Open title as a teenager at The Olympic Club in San Francisco in 2021. Amazingly, at 19 years, 11 months and 17 days she was exactly the same age as
Inbee Park when she became the championship’s youngest-ever winner in 2008. It was her maiden LPGA Tour success and came three years after she won individual and team honours at the Asian Games.
With a Filipina mother and Japanese father she held dual citizenship and competed for the Philippines in the Tokyo Olympics, but in accordance with Japanese law was obliged to choose between them by her 22nd birthday and announced she would be competing for Japan in the future.
